What does CBD do?

If you are using CBD This helps you to unwind and relax. CBD temporarily changes brain chemistry. This is because cannabidiol interacts with numerous receptor sites. These, in turn, are associated with “feel-good” neurotransmitters.

There are many people who notice a difference after using a few drops of CBD oil. But how is this possible? Is this a placebo effect? You can read all about it in this post.

The lucky molecule

There is, of course, plenty of research being done on CBD. Early studies have shown that CBD increases levels of anandamide (happiness molecule) in the body. Its function is the endocannabinoid neurotransmitter.

Low levels of anandamide in your body can cause mood swings and anxiety. Research has shown that CBD can actually increase these levels if your anandamide level is generally higher. Often this means your mood is better and you feel more relaxed.

Serotonin receptors

CBD affects many things, including the endocannabinoid system, and it binds to serotonin receptors. In addition, this is a mechanism that proves that CBD relaxation promotes.

Animal models have shown that there was less anxious behavior via the activation of the 5-HT1A serotonin receptor. Some anxiolytics target the same serotonin receptor, which is part of the serotonergic system. This network is involved in mood, appetite and cognitive functions.

Further research in animals suggests that this same molecular target could be exploited for patients with PTSD.

What does CBD do against stress?

Tension causes the exact opposite effect of relaxation. It activates the sympathetic nervous system. This leads to more alertness, an increased heart rate and muscle tension.

The result of being relaxed is more alertness, a drop in heart rate and muscle tension† CBD also seems to reduce anxiety.
